Isabel Davy (1909-1912) is said to have died from heat-stroke after sitting on a fence for too long. Warnings were passed on from Isobel Davy (sister) to her child and most everyone to be aware of being in the sun too long and the effects of heat-stroke. The temperature on the day of death was low, however there were some very hot days prior to the day of her death. The duration of the heat-stroke effects on Isabel are not known at this point. | Davy, Isabel (I351)

John married Sarah Pavey on 8 August 1849 at Deptford. The following day John, Sarah and their 10-day old son set sail for New Zealand aboard the 'Pekin'. The 'Pekin' arrived at Wellington on 26 December before going on to Nelson on 31 December 1849. They are thought to have had two or three more children after settling in the Nelson region.
He was at one time the Headmaster of the Collingwood School in 1859-61. He was later a chemist in Dunedin. Sometimes known as "Doc Neame", he seems to have had some medical training before emigrating, but no evidence that he actually qualified as a doctor.
He lived in Dunedin until his death on 5 May 1901, aged 74, and is buried in the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin with his 3rd wife Mary in the Greig family plot.

Mary Ann Pettit (b.Jan 1805) was never officially surnamed Goodship when she was born. Her mother, also named Mary Ann Pettit (b.1781), became pregnant by William Goodship, who never married Mary Ann’s mother, and instead married Priscilla Hunt in Dec 1805. Mary Ann’s mother never married Mr Goodship. Mary Ann was given the surname Pettit after her mother, however Mr. William Damsell Goodship is understood to be her biological father. “At birth, Mary Ann was known as Mary Ann Pettit. Even just prior to her marriage, Mary Ann was known as Mary Ann Pettit. In the published Banns list announcing her marriage to John Gardner, she was listed as Mary Ann Pettett. Little is known of Mary Ann's childhood. It is assumed she was raised by her mother for most or all of her years growing up. Later in life, Mary Ann added Goodship to her name recognizing her natural father. Whether her biological father and mother ever married is unknown at this time.”

Obituary.
Mr Peter Brisbane.
There passed away at her son's (Cr W. G. Brisbane's) residence, Murchison, on the 14th inst, another of the pioneer residents of the district (says the " Advertiser"), in the person of Mrs Mary Augusta Clara Brisbane. The deceased lady had suffered from an internal complaint for some considerable time past, and had been confined to her bed for the last six weeks. Several times during the last few weeks her life had been despaired of, and the end, which came as above stated, was therefore not unexpected, and must have come as a happy release from acute suffering. The late Mrs Brisbane was a native of Gorletz, Germany, at which place she was born in the year 1844, she therefore being 71 years of age at the time of her death. With her parents she came to Australia in 1848 (which makes her a colonist of 67 years standing), and after spending quite a number of years on the many then thriving goldfields, of which she had a lively recollection, came to reside in the Murchison district in 1882—33 years ago. During her long residence in the district, the deceased lady made quite a host of friends, her nature being such as to know her was to respect her, and although she had passed the allotted span of three score years and ten, her death will be deplored. She leaves a family of four sons, viz, Harold, Edgar, Cr W. G. and Arnold, to mourn their great loss, and for them the deepest sympathy is expressed. The funeral took place on Thursday, the remains being interred in the Murchison cemetery, and were followed to their last resting place by a large cortege of mourners. The service at the graveside was read by the Rev F. C. Vickerman.
